The world's longest limousine was built by the renowned car customizer Jay Ohrberg in 1986. Nicknamed the "American Dream," this 100-foot-long Cadillac limo is a
pop culture
icon that has had an eventful life.
However, the grand limousine had been neglected at a New Jersey warehouse for several years and now looks to be in pretty bad shape.
This limo has changed hands in the past, with the latest owner, Michael Manning, leaving it to rot. Michael Dezer, a Florida car collector, bought it and restored it, making it even longer.

A short history of the world's longest car

The world's longest car is a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado with both the engine and the body. According to
Motor Trend
, Jay Ohrberg put together six Eldorado models to make the 24-wheeler limo.
He has also created other cool sci-fi cars including the KITT featured in Knight Rider and the time machine used in the Back to the Future film.
Its original design included a 60-foot body and two V8 engines, one at the front and the other at the back. Jay later expanded it to 100 feet and added two more wheels. It had a helipad at the rear, which was reinforced by steel columns and could be used as a putting green when the chopper was not around.
This muscle limo, like that of the Dodge Charger, could be driven from any end. It had a hinge at the center that allowed it to make turns on narrow roads. However, it could also operate as a rigid vehicle.
The vehicle was used for cinematic appearances and appeared in movies in its heyday.

What restoration has been done to the world's longest car?

Due to the many years of disrepair, lots of restoration work was required for the body and the engine. It had to be cut in half and transported to the repair station. Michael Denzel added a set of two wheels and made the body even longer by a few feet.
Motor 1
explains that he then restored the helipad by installing metal grills hidden under the hood. The restored world's longest car still uses a V8 engine with greater power than the 1986 model. While it is not clear if the hinge in the middle was retained, the restored limo is said to be in a drivable state, but due to its size, it may not be easy to drive on normal roads.

The features of the restored world's longest car

According to
Guinness World Records
, the restored world's longest car features enough space to host about 75 people.
It also comes with a bathtub, a mini-golf course, a helipad, a diving board, and a jacuzzi. In addition, it comes with a refrigerator, several TV screens, and a working telephone line.
The car’s interior has leather upholstery with accents and various lighting systems to enhance its luxury. Since the car cannot be driven around due to its length, it will be available for display at Dezerland Park in the Orlando Auto Museum in Florida.
