But if safety is your top priority, Consumer Reports prefers the equipment featured on the 2022 Lincoln Navigator. These include pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.
If you’re hoping for features like lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and highway automatic emergency braking on the Escalade, you’re out of luck. Also, while rear cross-traffic warning and blind-spot warning come standard in the Navigator, you’ll have to pay extra for it in the Escalade.
The Lincoln Navigator vs. Cadillac Escalade: Consumer Reports weighs in
You may be surprised to find out that Consumer Reports
ranked the 2022 Lincoln Navigator third in its segment. The SUV earned a 65/100 road test score and for its predicted owner satisfaction score, a four out of five. However, it’s not as reliable as we would have hoped, coming in with a three out of five rating. As far as fuel economy, the Lincoln Navigator is about average at 16 mpg. Starting at $76,710, the Navigator sports a 3.5-liter V6 turbo engine that pumps out 411 hp.
The 2022 Cadillac Escalade got a better road test score at 80/100. But it’s even less reliable with a two out of five rating. With an owner satisfaction rating of three out of five, the Escalade was ranked fifth in its category by Consumer Reports.
The Escalade shares the same fuel economy with the Navigator at 16 mpg. Under the hood is a 6.2-liter V8 engine with an output of 420 hp. The SUV also beats out the Navigator with its transmission, handling, and braking ratings.
Testers raved about the SUV’s comfort level, but when it comes to the ride itself, it received a four out of five. With a bit of a lower price point, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade starts at $76,295.
While both high-end SUVs have their perks, Consumer Reports can’t ignore the high road test scores for the Cadillac Escalade. However, because the Lincoln Navigator is more reliable, has better safety features, and has more satisfied owners, it beats out the Escalade in a game well played.
