The
Jeep
Wagoneer is one of the most exciting releases from this
cherished American company
. The original Wagoneer won the hearts of many drivers from the ‘60s until the early ‘90s. This model was an upgraded station wagon, but the new Wagoneer is a modern three-row SUV.
This one comes with a more luxurious interior, plus wider and longer dimensions. If you need even more space, Jeep will soon release the L package for both models.

Powertrain upgrades included with the L package

Car and Driver
reports that both of the stretched Jeep Wagoneers will include a new twin-turbo inline-six engine. It makes 420 horsepower on the Wagoneer L and 510 horsepower on the Grand Wagoneer L.
The new engine can be optioned with either RWD, FWD, or AWD. Just like the existing engines, it can only be paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Currently, the Jeep Wagoneer L makes just 392 horsepower with its mild-hybrid V8. The Grand Wagoneer has a bigger V8 that generates 471 horsepower.
Even with the extra power, both of the new twin-turbo engines are more efficient compared to the current offerings.
The Jeep Wagoneer L should get 19 mpg combined city/highway thanks to its bigger fuel tank. Both Wagoneer Ls retain a 10,000-pound towing capacity, which is still impressive by large SUV standards.

How stretched out is a Jeep Wagoneer L?

The Jeep Wagoneer's L package adds 12 inches of length, with seven extra inches between the axles. This makes the Jeep Wagoneer L nearly 215 inches long, while the Grand Wagoneer L is almost 227 inches. A longer wheelbase generally means legroom for passengers, as well as a bigger cargo area.
Jeep
says that the Grand Wagoneer L now offers a whopping 42 cubic feet of cargo area behind the third row. The Wagoneer L offers over 27 cubic feet of storage with every seat in use. The rear overhang has also been extended by five inches, giving drivers more versatility when loading tall or bulky items.
The Grand Wagoneer L's massive cargo area results in less passenger space but it's not a huge dealbreaker. Riders can still enjoy the comfort of the Palermo leather seats and the standard captain's chairs for the second row. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer L will also keep its woodgrain dashboard, which serves as a callback to its ancestors.
The Jeep Wagoneer L is slightly less embellished, but it still offers wide seats and an array of available options.  Both Wagoneer models also come with a variety of advanced safety features.

When will the L package be released?

According to C/D, the Wagoneer L models should be made available in the latter half of 2022. Pricing will likely be revealed closer to the actual release date, but similar LWB models usually demand $15,000+ premiums.
For comparison, the standard-wheelbase Jeep Wagoneer's sticker price ranges from $58,995-$74,640 without any optional packages. The upscale Jeep Grand Wagoneer has an $88,000+ entry fee, and fully-loaded models cost about $20,000 more.
