While car companies compete against each other to see who delivers the best vehicle performance, luxury, and speed, it's not a new thing to find some of them partnering on projects. For instance, Audi and Rimac came together to manufacture one of the fastest-ever EV
supercars
: the RS E-Tron. So did BMW and Toyota, who combined to create the Toyota Supra, and the list goes on.
The latest partnership in the auto industry is between Alpine and IED Turin. The two renowned names are working behind the scenes to grace car enthusiasts with something much more than a concept car—the A4810 Project. Of course, a car like that would cost you a fortune in
insurance coverage
, but perhaps it might be worth it. Let's get into details about the project.

A brief description of Alpine and IED Turin

Alpine
is an automaker renowned for its innovation in car manufacturing, creating fast and lightweight vehicles. It was founded in 1955 by Jean Redele, a motorsport racer and car dealer. In 1973, Renault acquired the company and made the Alpine A110. The Alpine A110 was a car that underpinned the French automaker's race-first philosophy, combining style with outstanding design features and technologies.
With an increasing focus on endurance races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Alpine created the A450, which won several European races in 2013, before manufacturing the A460, which gave the brand more success in the Le Mans in 2016. Five years later, the forward-thinking car company is now combining its prowess in the industry with IED Turin to create the A4810, an embodiment of the Alpine spirit and DNA.
The Instituto Europeo di Design (IED) is a Turin, Italy-based design campus with a rich history of partnering with bigwig car manufacturers to create innovative and sustainable car designs, such as Project Tracy in 2020. For over 17 years, IED Turin has unveiled its project at the Geneva International Motor Show, allowing its master's students' excellence in Transportation Design.

What to know about the A4810 project

The A4810 Project started in September 2021 and was initiated by Raphael Linari, Alpine's Chief Designer. Linari, IED alumnus himself, chose 28 students to interpret Alpine's design culture and use that as an inspiration to design a futuristic supercar. It's an undertaking that required the students to design the car on paper and also create its life-size scale model.
The master designers, who hail from various destinations around the world, didn't have to worry about the engineering and manufacturing aspects of the project. Their only job was to create the A4810's design based on the general specs, which included length, width, height, and wheel size. Needless to say, they delivered.

A sneak-peek at the A4810

According to
Renault Group
, the futuristic hypercar will be sporty and eco-friendly. The A4810 will be hydrogen-powered with very Alpine characteristics: lightweight, spottiness, and pleasurable driving experience. With its aerodynamic design and sleek, curvy bodylines, it's the kind of supercar any sports car buff would want in their garage.
This outstanding project demonstrates Alpine's dedication to helping tomorrow's designers prepare for the professional design space. Despite 28 master's students being chosen to take on the project, the car's concept was derived from two ideas generated by the students. Still, it's a car that many of us are waiting eagerly to see.
