We've written about who has the most American-made vehicles in the U.S.—it's Tesla, by the way—but we can't ignore
Honda
, which has four models breaking the top 10 list.
According to the

—which ranks 95 vehicles based on their assembly location, parts content, engine and transmission origins as well as workforce—four Honda vehicles break the top 10 of the list.

Which Honda vehicles made the top 10?

The Honda Passport ranks at No. 4, the Honda Ridgeline at No. 8, the Honda Odyssey comes in at No. 9 and the Honda Pilot rounds it out at No. 10. These four vehicles are manufactured in Lincoln, Alabama.
The Honda Passport is a fairly reliable SUV starting at $36,870. When equipped with its TrailSport package, the Passport could even be considered a viable competitor to the new Ford Bronco.
The Honda Ridgeline is the black sheep of the truck market. Despite its detractors, the Ridgeline is a capable choice for those not looking to do any heavy-duty hauling or off-roading. It starts at $38,140 for the base model.
The Honda Odyssey—the preferred whip of Hasan Minhaj—is definitely a minivan. It starts at $37,340.
The Honda Pilot is a midsize SUV recently recognized as the best mid-size SUV on the market by Consumer Reports in 2021. It starts at $38,080.

Why are there so many Japanese cars in the top 10?

Despite technically being a "foreign" automaker, Honda produces many of its vehicles for the North American market in the U.S. Why'd they rank so highly? Because of their American-made part content.
Cars.com notes that the No. 4-ranked Honda Passport, for example, touts a U.S. and Canadian parts content of 75%, which is the highest of any vehicle surveyed for the 2022 index. It even beats the No. 1-ranked Tesla Model Y in terms of U.S. and Canadian parts.

Part content matters

The 2022 American-Made Index uses data from the American Automobile Labeling Act to determine the overall U.S. and Canadian parts content of vehicles assembled in the U.S. Cars.com notes that this reporting varies by automaker. While some automakers report a single percentage point per model, others break it down based on powertrain, trim or assembly location.
But the fact that U.S. and Canadian parts content is combined means your American-made vehicle may more accurately be described as "Upper-North American-made”—so if you're hellbent on getting a 100% American-made vehicle, you're probably out of luck.
