It’s Hard To Make a Case for Picking the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Over the Kia Telluride

Two of the top SUVs for 2023, the Nissan Pathfinder and Kia Telluride, go head to head in size, technology, comfort, style, fuel economy, and towing power.

Nissan
has been teasing the 2023 model year for the recently redesigned Pathfinder, but will it measure up in the increasingly competitive SUV segment? Both the Nissan Pathfinder and the Kia Telluride are solid choices, but which one wins out when they go head-to-head?
The Kia Telluride has been going strong for a few years now, winning Kelley Blue Book’s "Best Buy" and "Best 3-Row Midsize SUV" awards for 2021, and in 2022 was named the top safest, affordable SUV by

Highlights of the 2023 Kia Telluride

According to
Kelley Blue Book
, the Kia Telluride comes equipped with a spacious 3-row interior, a powerful V6 engine, and a great list of standard features at a reasonable price. Based on last year’s numbers, the starting price for the 2023 Kia Telluride is estimated at about $36,000.
When compared to the Nissan Pathfinder, the Telluride gets more interior space, more advanced standard tech, and an unbeatable warranty.
In the Telluride, third-row passengers get an extra 3.4 inches of legroom and 4.4 more cubic feet of cargo space. While that may not seem like much, those extra inches can make a big difference when loading the car up for a camping trip, hauling goods, or carpooling.
The suite of standard tech features in the Telluride is also something special, as the 10.25-inch infotainment system comes with navigation, remote start, and a suite of safety tech features.
Lastly, there’s the best-in-class warranty. The 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty will give you peace of mind for years to come.

Can the Nissan Pathfinder measure up?

The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder is by no means a bad car. It’s practical, family-friendly, and has a rugged edge that you don’t get with the Telluride, especially if you opt for the Rock Creek model.
Kelley Blue Book also estimates that pricing will start around the same range as the Telluride at $35,000.
Another perk to the Pathfinder is better fuel economy. While the Pathfinder and Telluride have the same fuel economy rating for the front-wheel drive versions, the all-wheel-drive Nissan bests the Kia via a combined fuel economy of 23 mpg. The AWD Telluride gets just 21 mpg.
With the Pathfinder, you also get a bit more towing capacity. The Pathfinder can tow up to 6,000 lbs, while the Telluride taps out at 5,500.
The Pathfinder has a comparable V6 engine and comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Which one is right for you?

At the end of the day, your choice will depend on your needs and lifestyle. While the Telluride is a great choice for anyone who wants a tech-forward, spacious and comfortable SUV, some might want the Pathfinder for its fuel economy and extra towing muscle.
