For some, the British Gumball 3000 tour is a weeklong festival with live music, fashion, and entertainment. For others, it’s a 3,000-mile race that takes place on public roads. It’s hosted in capital cities, and crowds can reach into the millions, not to mention there’s an international broadcast shown in 60 different countries.
The Gumball 3000 was born of Cooper’s vision for an aspirational lifestyle brand. According to Endurance
, “In May of 1999, Cooper got the whole endeavor started when he invited his most influential friends to join him on a driving adventure across Europe all the while hosting glamorous parties at pit stops along the way.” His friends included celebs like Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss, Jamiroquai, and Johnny Knoxville. The positive press from GQ, Esquire, and Vanity fair made it one of the coolest must-do events in Britain.
The best part? Proceeds go to charity and anyone who has a fancy car can register. Celebrities who’ve attended in the past include Steve Aoki, Idris Elba, Usher, Tony Hawk, Snoop Dog, Eve, and Daryl Hannah. Royalty and CEOs of billion-dollar companies like Facebook have also been known to make an appearance.
The gifting suite for registered Gumball 3000 registered riders is also pretty sweet. Goodies range from shoes to jackets to socks to in-car diffusers. Past partnerships include EA Sports, Nike, Redbull, YouTube, Sony Playstation, the Fiat Group, and Hublot.
The 2022 Gumball 3000
Tim Burton (no, not the acclaimed director), who goes by Shmee150 on YouTube was thrilled to enter his Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 in the event. This year’s lineup includes mostly exotic cars from Ferrari, Porsche, Bently, Aston Martin, McLaren, and Lamborghini. There’s even been talk of some Bugattis and the Batmobile.
The 2022 Gumball 3000 will feature 100 to 150 supercars and span over the course of seven days. The rally will start in Toronto and end at the DRV PNK Stadium in Miami, Florida.
