Should You Get the 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited?

The 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited has some features some might consider unnecessary for the price. However, it would be a smart decision to buy the Highlander as a hybrid in general.

Toyota
is well-known for making a lot of great cars, and one of Toyota's most successful models is the Highlander. While there are some model years of the Highlander that customers should avoid buying, the 2022 Toyota Highlander does not seem to be one of them.
One of the trims that's available right now is the 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited, and here's a look at if
Jerry
thinks it's worth its price tag.

An overview of the regular 2022 Toyota Highlander

The regular Highlander is a pretty good SUV that people will struggle to find issues with. It starts at about $35,000, and it comes with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that gets 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. This is a good engine for a car of its size, and its fuel economy is decent too.
That standard V-6 gets 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on highways, for 25 mpg combined. On top of that, the Highlander is a nice and practical three-row SUV, which means that it can seat up to eight people as standard.
The regular Highlander has some flaws, though. The third-row seats aren't the most comfortable, so unless you have a large family, most drivers will want to fold the third-row down for more cargo capacity.

What the 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited offers

On the other hand, the 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited is a premium trim of the Highlander when it's equipped with a hybrid powertrain. According to
Motorbiscuit
, this version of the Highlander costs $46,000.
The main upgrade happens to Toyota's engine. It now has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine that gets 243 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque.
Toyota also replaced the Highlander's standard automatic transmission with a CVT. The result of those changes is a Highlander that gets 36 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on highways.
This trim of the Highlander is still a reliable SUV, but it gets some luxury features too. The front seats are heated and ventilated, there's a power liftgate, and the cabin gets a leather upholstery.
Toyota also gives this trim a lot of tech features. There's an 8-inch touch screen and a lot of smart safety features, including a pedestrian detection system.
This Highlander trim also has some smart convenience features, such as wireless phone charging, a feature that lets the driver easily speak to the rear seats, and more.

Is the 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited worth it?

Customers on a budget can choose to spend $39,000 for a Highlander Hybrid, which has many of the features the standard Highlander has, but with a hybrid engine.
That's a $4,000 premium, but it's significantly cheaper than the extra $11,000 that Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited customers are paying.
In terms of fuel economy, the hybrid option is definitely worth it, as it will pay itself off. The premium and luxury features of the 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited may not be worth it though. They certainly make the car nicer to be in, but most people don't need those features.
