background
Ford
is consistently releasing new vehicles, from the new all-electric Mustang Mach-E to more limited-edition vehicles. While Ford is known for their pickup trucks, they’re also a big name in American muscle cars.
Among these new releases is the Ford Shelby GT500, one of Ford’s fastest and most powerful street-legal cars to date. The
trusted experts
at Jerry have all the details you need on this thrill-seeker’s brand-new muscle car.

Specs and features of the Ford Shelby GT500

This muscle car is a two-door coupe that seats four passengers and has a front engine with rear-wheel drive.
A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and 5.2-liter V-8 engine getting 760 hp fuels this bad boy, though the mpg itself is dismal coming at 12 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. So if you’re looking for something fuel-efficient, this car isn’t it.
When it comes to the interior, the
Ford Shelby GT500
comes standard with front-row bucket seats, dual climate control, heated and cooling seats, and an aluminum interior trim.
If you’ve got extra cash to shell out, you can get the Ford Shelby GT500 Carbon Fiber Track Pack.
According to
Ford
Included in this trim are 20’’ carbon fiber wheels, Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires, a carbon fiber instrument panel (replacing the aluminum), rear seat delete, a carbon fiber GT4 track wing, splitter wickers, and a wheel-locking kit.
This package features luxurious Recardo leather-trimmed sports seats that maintain their comfortability while being race-inspired.

The Ford Shelby GT500: tech and cost

Car and Driver
writes that the GT500 comes with an infotainment system that is all too similar to the regular Mustang’s.
It has an 8’’ touchscreen with Ford Sync 3 software. Other tech features include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wifi hotspot (if you get the subscription), and a 12-speaker B&O sound system.
Safety-wise, when it comes to driving assisting tech, this bad boy is a bit disappointing coming with only launch control and a braking system.
However, the Ford Shelby GT500 does have one of Ford’s newest tech releases, the LCD Digital Instrument Cluster with MyColor.
This 12’’ cluster lets you customize your driving gauge with three options: Normal, Sport, and Track. In addition to this, you can use the MyColor feature to further customize the gauge’s color.
Ford states that the starting price is $79,420, but the model Car and Driver tested was $81,565.
