With its impressive off-road abilities and unique styling, it's not hard to see why people want a
Ford
Bronco. While you can purchase Ford Bronco
insurance
easily, actually getting the car is another story.
Due to popular demand, even the earliest reservation might not be honored for several months.
While many hopeful drivers wait for their dream Broncos to arrive, others are letting theirs get swept out to the ocean. Here's what happened to one very unfortunate Ford Bronco, according to
MotorTrend
.

How did this Ford Bronco get itself in deep water?

On Easter weekend, a group of out-of-towners drove their Ford Bronco onto Bar Harbor's shore before low tide. The drivers did so because they had apparently seen other cars cruising around the bar. They decided to press on towards a nearby cove and eventually got their vehicle stuck in some mudflats.
However, the drivers didn't know about the 90-minute window between when the shore is accessible and when the low tide returns. When the drivers tried to go back to shore, the water had risen to the bottom of the Bronco's headlights. With 1,500 feet separating the car from the shoreline, there was no hope of driving it back without help.

Was the vehicle rescued?

According to
Boston.com
, the marooned Ford Bronco was recovered after 28 hours. The head of the Bay Harbor Police Department attempted to tow it back to shore with a cable, which broke in seconds. The wheels wouldn't cooperate because the driver had left the Bronco's front and rear lockers in place.
Early the next morning, police attempted to use two trucks with winches to free the Ford Bronco. This strategy was also unsuccessful. They tried again later that evening but were only able to move the Bronco 150 feet forward.
The police department called for a diver to attach airbags onto the Bronco. With those in place, two boats were able to tug the floating Ford Bronco close to the sandbar.
Only then were police successfully able to get it on a tow truck. The car was sent to an impound lot so that damages could be assessed.

When can you expect your Ford Bronco delivery?

A waterlogged Bronco is just as good as no Bronco at all, which is what many buyers are currently experiencing. In February, the Ford Bronco's production progress was stalled due to the
Ambassador Bridge blockade
in Canada.
American Ford factories can usually make thousands of cars each day with parts from outside the border. The blockade wasn't cleared for nearly a week, pushing back the production timelines of several models.
According to
MotorBiscuit
, the estimated wait time for a Ford Bronco was already upwards of six months last winter. Shortly after the blockade debacle, Ford changed orders with February production windows to May.
To be sure that existing orders are honored as soon as possible, Ford has currently halted new Bronco reservations.
MotorBiscuit advises Ford Bronco reservation-holders to ask their local Ford dealerships about estimated delivery timeframes. If you choose to cancel your reservation, you might be able to find a Ford Bronco for sale in your area.
A warning in advance: it will probably have some crazy dealer markups.
