With the introduction of its forthcoming eMuscle cars, Dodge is saying goodbye to the V8-powered Charger and Challenger this coming year. But the special editions marking the end of the era aren’t arriving as soon as the American
car brand
originally anticipated.
Dodge already unveiled six of the seven “Last Call” muscle cars but plans to show off the last model this November at the 2022 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas were canceled.
Jerry

Dodge says the seventh Last Call car is still on its way

Dodge didn’t offer much to explain the delayed release of the company’s last special edition muscle car, saying only that it’s the result of “product and supply challenges.”
Car and Driver
says the equal tally of Chargers and Challengers in the lineup so far leaves no hint for the last installment, but if it’s anything like the six cars that came before it, fans are in for a treat.
All of them are equipped with either a Hellcat supercharged 6.2-liter V8 or the Scat Pack 6.4-liter V-8, and each car nods to an iconic model from Dodge’s muscle car history with its name, features, and styling.
The seven sports cars mark the end of Dodge’s V8 muscle cars, but the brand hopes to carry the enthusiasm for their gas engines over to electric vehicles with the upcoming Charger Daytona SRT, the first model in their eMuscle subbrand.

Dodge’s “Last Call” special editions turn up the heat on the Charger and Challenger

Dodge didn’t phone in the end to their beloved V8-powered sports cars. The whole Last Call lineup oozes admiration for the Chargers and Challengers of the past.
The Challenger Shakedown, the first Last Call model Dodge unveiled, references a concept car of the same name presented in 2016.
Car and Driver
says the original was a retrofitted ‘71 Challenger updated with new parts, but the new model separates itself mostly through styling.
Up next came the Charger Super Bee, a drag-race-ready model carrying a badge that originated in 1968. Dodge gave it adaptive dampers and a “Drag Mode” unique to the car.
Dodge also created a Swinger version of both cars, sharing everything across the Charger and Challenger except their bodies, from their ‘60s-inspired styling to their 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engines.
The fifth and sixth installments both point to unique moments in each car’s history.
The Charger King Daytona is styled and named in reference to the West Coast drag racing scene of the ‘60s and ‘70s while the Black Ghost is named after a legendary Challenger that prowled the streets of Detroit in the 1970s.
