‘Felicity Ace’ Fire Means Restarting Aventador Production for Lamborghini

The Lamborghini Aventador and its V12 has been a staple of the automotive world in years past, but with the EV tide on the horizon, Lamborghini has decided to say farewell. However, a cargo ship fire has destroyed 15 of the last models, so Lamborghini will resume production.

The Aventador Ultimae is one of the latest models to join the legendary
Lamborghini
family. To celebrate a decade of the Aventador, the Ultimae will be the final (and supposedly greatest) version.
However, due to a troubling incident, some U.S. buyers will need to wait a little longer to receive their orders. According to
Motor1
, a fire destroyed 15 Ultimae models on board the Felicity Ace cargo ship. While replacements are being built, let's look at what the Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae has to offer.

Specs on the Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae

The Ultimae has the same V12 engine as the regular Aventador. This specific V12 was all-new for the Aventador, and it's also the first V12 used by Lamborghini since the ‘60s.
Inside the Aventador Ultimate, this V12 has 770 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. Its full power unlocks at 8,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a seven-speed automated-manual gearbox.
On the previous Aventador, power from the engine was distributed equally between all four wheels. However, the Ultimae sends a little extra torque to the rear wheels.
Lamborghini made the Aventador Ultimae lighter compared to previous models, improving its already impressive handling. This version also comes with carbon-ceramic brakes.
While the car has yet to be tested, we estimate that it will be just as fast as the outgoing Aventador. When
Car and Driver
tested the 2020 roadster version, it reached 60 mph in only 2.8 seconds.
Testers also appreciated this vehicle's incredible traction, easy maneuvering, and its addictive engine growls. The only glaring performance issue is the heavy transmission, which is cumbersome to operate and doesn't provide fast shifts.
The Aventador Ultimae features scissor doors that open vertically, inviting users into a simple yet refined cabin. The infotainment system features slightly dated graphics, but it's still user-friendly. You can also use this interface to select different drive modes or track your performance.

Despite the ship fire, production will continue

After the Felicity Ace caught fire, it sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. 4,000 cars were on board this ship, 85 of which belonged to Lamborghini.
Most of the lost cars have already been released, so these examples can be replaced without much hassle. As for the Aventador Ultimae, Lamborghini officials confirmed that the 15 lost cars will be remade.
The Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae is already extremely limited, with only 600 examples planned to be built. 350 of those will be standard coupes, while the remaining 250 will be roadster models.

Is this really the end of the V12 Aventador?

In an official release, Lamborghini confirmed that the Aventador Ultimae serves as the finale for the "traditional V12 engine." While the Aventador might be making its exit,
Motor1
believes that this is not the end for the V12.
After all, the automaker only said that this would be the last "naturally-aspirated" V12. This still might leave the door open for a V12 in a hybrid configuration, or perhaps combined with turbochargers.

How much does Lamborghini Aventador insurance typically cost?

Foreign hypercars usually have the highest insurance premiums, and not just because of their out-of-this-world price tags. These cars are built to be driven fast, and insurance carriers know that drivers will test those limits. These cars are also frequently targeted by thieves, and thus need comprehensive policies.
Premium rates vary depending on the model, but the average Lamborghini insurance policy is between $5,400 to $7,950 annually. Fortunately, with
