While many of us know
Mercedes-Benz
as a timeless, luxury brand, that doesn’t mean its cars aren’t fast. From its trailblazing roadsters from the 1920s to its AMG dominating the Formula 1 scene, this German automaker isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

The fastest Mercedes that go 60 mph in 4.1 to 3.7 seconds

While the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S maybe an SUV, this trim not only has built-in luxury, it’s much faster than you’d expect. The GLE 63 S features 577 hp and takes 4.1 seconds to accelerate to 60 mph. This strong and bulky ride will set you back at least $100,000.
Let’s throw it back to the 1999 Mercedes CLK GTR. According to
MotorBiscuit
, “In the ’90s, Mercedes got back to racing in a big way. And in an uncharacteristically un-Mercedes move, it sold 26 barely street-legal versions of its CLK GTR endurance racer for homologation purposes.”
The car was built to hold up in a GT1 class race such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Ready for the road, these GTRs sported a 6.9-liter V12 engine with 604 hp and 572 lb-ft of torque. With a top speed of 199 mph, the ‘90s car could reach 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
The 2009 Mercedes SLR McLaren was powered by a supercharged V8 engine, with 617 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque. The street-legal showcase for Mercedes’s Formula 1 tech, the SRL featured lightweight ceramic brakes and a carbon-fiber body shell. The legend slays a top speed of 206 mph and takes 3.8 seconds to get to 62 mph.
Nicknamed the Porsche 911-slayer, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT S has short deck proportions and a classic long hood. Inside is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that pumps out 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. It takes the GT just 3.7 seconds to hit 60 mph.

The fastest Mercedes that go 60 mph in 3.6 to 3.5 seconds

The first production vehicle by the AMG team, the 2014 Mercedes-AMG SLS GT featured badass gull-winged doors. The GT offered drivers a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 583 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. This allowed the auto to sprint to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of about 197 mph.
The 2007 Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 was an attempt to meager the gap between an F1 car and the SLR we all know and love. “The 641 horsepower supercharged car was named after the number on Sir Sterling Moss’ Mercedes 300SLR when he won the 1955 Mille Miglia. Coincidentally, that race also started at 7:22 a.m.,” MotorBiscuit tells us.
The commemorative car only had 150 models and could accelerate to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. One of the fastest Mercedes ever, the speedster could easily reach a top speed of 209 mph.
The twin-turbo V8 2015 Mercedes-AMG E63 S is powered by 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The car can also hit 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds. The E43 sedan’s power isn’t far behind, with 396 hp.

Mercedes top supercar countdown

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG CLS63 S 4MATIC is not as big as the S-Class, but it’s much sportier.
According to MotorBiscuit, “The CLS is largely responsible for ushering in the “four-door coupe” craze that reigns supreme today. And once AMG gets ahold of the current car, it becomes one of the fastest four-doors in the world.”
The sedan is powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo engine with 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. With power to all four wheels, it takes just 3.5 seconds to reach 60 mph.
The 2009 Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss – 3.5 is named after the British racing driver who took the Mercedes to a whole new level in the 1950s racing scene. The auto can reach 217 mph (without a windshield) and go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Only 75 units were ever built, as the last model produced by the Mercedes-McLaren partnership.
The bonkers 2014 Mercedes-AMG SLS Black Series, one of the fastest Mercedes ever made, has a top speed of 196 mph. While there are other Mercedes that can go faster, none compare to a 3.2-second time to reach 60 mph. With 622 hp, only a couple hundred were ever made and buyers spend about $250,000 to get their hands on one. Nowadays, you’d be lucky to find one that cheap!
