The Jeep brand was founded in 1941 with its military vehicles. It wasn’t until the ‘90s that the Grand Cherokee Laredo and Wrangler Sport models began making headway on the performance front. Both could travel from 0 to 60 mph in 9.3 seconds, as reported by

.In 2012, the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon had significantly more horsepower at 285, and would make the same run in just 7.6 seconds. But the competition got even more fierce in 2014. The Cherokee Trailhawk and Limited 4x4 models both had 271 hp. They could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 and 6.9 seconds, respectively. The Wrangler Willys that same year did it in 6.6 seconds with 285 hp.
But Jeep enthusiasts will agree that the original fastest Jeep was born in 2012 with the Grand Cherokee SRT8. This model had a whopping 470 hp and price tag of $61,885 at the time. It could move to 60 mph from a standstill in 5.0 seconds flat.

The SRT version remains a close second, as per

. The latter comes with a 6.4-liter V8 engine. But, the reigning champion when it comes to performance is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.The Trackhawk ups the ante with a HEMI Hellcat 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that tops out at 180 mph. It has an output of 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. With a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, and a quarter-mile time of 11.6 seconds, it was the fastest accelerating SUV in 2021.
These standings are easily compared to the world’s best supercars. Except it’s actually the fastest Jeep instead. And it’s capable of towing a maximum of 7,200 lbs, according to

.Luxury contenders include the Lamborghini Urus, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, and the Maserati Levante. But for a fraction of those models’ price tags, car buyers can have the faster Trackhawk for $88,445.

Unfortunately, 2021 is the final model year for the fastest Jeep. This title just might die with the Trackhawk.
