Sadly, it always seems like some of the best
new cars
aren't available for the public to drive. There is some hope for concept vehicles, as we've seen from the release of the Kia Soul and the controversial BMW i8. However, racing car liveries are pretty much always exclusive to the racetrack.
Alfa Romeo has finally unveiled its F1 racing car for the 2022 season. How will it set itself apart from the competition this year?
Motorsport.com
has all the details.

Who designed the new Alfa Romeo F1 car?

This latest livery, also known as the C42, is brought to us by Alfa Romeo's Centro Stile design studio. It comes with a majority of red body panels, a slight contrast to previous models with mostly white paint.
Other thoughtful design touches include the words 'Alfa Romeo' in fancy script and an Italian flag printed on the rear wing's underside. According to the design team, this is a callback to previous generations of Formula One racing, particularly during the company's 30th racing year.
It also distinguishes itself from previous models with a pushrod rear suspension, a wavier nose, and a split-center intake. Despite that, early testing reveals that it handles the same as the Alfa Romeo F1 from last year. Per
AutoSport
, these new F1 cars also exhibit more downforce and have faster acceleration times.
This build was made to match the new F1 technical regulations, which were previously delayed due to the pandemic. Alfa Romeo is confident that the new build style will give the team a good advantage.
Team Orlen has been struggling with subpar performance recently, particularly in the Barcelona races. The team only got in 175 laps between its three riders.
Alfa Romeo hasn't revealed the latest F1's specs yet, but we know that it's based on the C39 model. This one came equipped with a turbo-hybrid Ferrari 065 V6 engine, which makes 600 horsepower at 15,000 rpm.

When will the Alfa Romeo F1 car make its official debut?

The 2022 Formula 1 Championship season is scheduled to start later this month. However, the Alfa Romeo C42 can be seen early during its pre-season testing session this week in Bahrain.
The 2022 Alfa Romeo F1 also comes with a new pair of drivers. Guanyu Zhou, a former Formula 2 driver, will take over for Antonio Giovinazzi. Kimi Raikkonen has retired this year, but he will be replaced by Valtteri Bottas.

Other upcoming F1 cars to enjoy

Other racing leagues have had their latest F1 designs released for some time, according to
Goodwood
. The Real Red Bull RB18 shares the same character as the sports drink, plus has a new nose and beefier sidepods.
The Alpine A522 sports a bright blue-and-pink color scheme, new and improved with a sleeker body design. Mercedes gives us a very futuristic-looking F1 W13, and Ferrari's F1-75 F1 comes in deep red.
Aston Martin also made some new design tweaks to the AMR22 this year. McLaren's MCL36 has made several changes to its livery within just a few months, settling for a primarily orange design. It also has a new fin on the floor to increase airflow to the sidepods.

What kind of auto insurance do Alfa Romeos need?

While you might not be able to purchase an Alfa Romeo F1, the automaker makes several other street-legal sports cars. The Giulia Quadrifoglio may look like your typical sedan, but it packs a punch with 505 horsepower and near-perfect handling.
Surprisingly, Alfa Romeo vehicles from the last two model years actually have cheaper insurance policies. If you're looking to unlock more auto coverage savings, the
