background
The Chevy
Corvette
is one of the most famous muscle cars in American history, but the modern Corvette is something else.
In fact, the current generation of the Corvette, the C8, is actually the best luxury sports cars on the market. Here's a look at the Corvette and why US News says that it's the best luxury sports car right now.

Why did US News say that the 2022 Chevy Corvette is the best?

According to
Motorbiscuit
, US News crowned the 2022 Chevy Corvette as the best luxury sports car for several reasons. Just like with any other luxury car, comfort is important, and the Corvette is actually a very comfortable car. There are high-end materials like leather and soft-touch plastics in the cabin.
The driver has access to a few neat tech features as well. In the rear seats, the Corvette is pretty comfortable, and this is especially true for taller passengers. Chevy also offers a convertible body style, and this can make the Corvette cooler and more comfortable.
Most luxury car shoppers probably don't care about price, but the Corvette isn't ridiculously expensive. Like older Corvette models, the 2022 Chevy Corvette is still pretty affordable compared to other luxury cars. A standard Corvette starts at about $61,000 right now.

How the 2022 Chevy Corvette performs according to US News

The big reason why the Corvette ultimately won, however, is its power and specs. The standard 2022 Chevy Corvette gets a 6.2-liter V-8, and this powerful engine gets 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. This allows it to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds. It can also top out at 194 mph.
Another great thing about the 2022 Chevy Corvette is its engine layout. Unlike the Hellcat, the Corvette has a mid-engine layout, and this allows it to have some great handling characteristics. Chevy also gave the Corvette some high-end brakes and a good steering wheel.
Combined, those factors allow the Corvette to be a fast car while driving both in a straight line around corners. All this combined makes the Corvette the best luxury sports car of them all.

The 2022 Chevy Corvette beat out a lot of notable names

The 2022 Chevy Corvette was fighting against some tough competition, too. The Porsche Cayman, for example, was a strong competitor in many areas. The Cayman handled well, and Porsche gave the Cayman a luxurious interior too. Porsche also priced the Cayman competitively, as it starts at about $60,000.
The big difference between the Chevy and the Porsche, however, was in their engines. The Cayman starts with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that gets 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. That's powerful, but the Corvette is significantly more powerful.
Another car that the Corvette beat was the Audi R8. This Audi starts with a massive 5.2-liter V-10 engine, and it gets 562 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque. However, the Audi is slower than the Chevy, and the Audi will also cost much more, too. The R8 currently starts at about $147,000.
