While the 2020s are shaping up to be the worst decade for many of us, there is one glowing silver lining:
car technology
continues to reach impressive new heights. While the EV arms race is getting most of the attention, the car safety arms race shouldn't be overlooked.
One Israeli company called MDGo is emerging as the leader in the exciting new field medi-cars.

The origin of Medi-cars

Medi-cars were once a dream of science fiction. Imagine if your car could monitor your weight, pupil diameter, breathing rate, and countless other medical metrics and communicate that data to your doctor. As nearly every American drives at least once per week, cars provide a great way to monitor health metrics.
However, using medi-cars to track long-term health trends is still a ways off. But that isn't stopping Israeli doctor Itay Bengad. When he was still practicing medicine, Dr. Bengad noticed that a lot of time was lost in critical car accidents.
Too often, first responders have to conduct investigations to figure out what happened in an accident. While these could be completed quickly on the scene, the difference between minutes and seconds could mean the difference between permanent damage and living a normal life.
Dr. Bengard knew there had to be a way to utilize modern car technology so that accident details can be instantly made available to doctors. From this idea, the MDGo medi-car idea was born.

How will MDGo medi-cars work?

Modern cars are already fully stacked with safety indicators for when things go wrong. Why not incorporate the data from these indicators to assist doctors after serious accidents? That's what Dr. Bengard thought when he started MDGo.
The idea is that after a serious accident, data from these safety indicators can be transferred in mere seconds to the hospital that is treating the crash victims.  But impact reports aren't the only data that the MDGo medi-cars will provide.
MDGo will use AI-assisted technology to forecast more precisely what the accident looked like and where the more critical areas of injury occurred. Its top prediction method will analyze over 22 million data points to assist doctors.
While it is still in its early stages, it is believed that MDGo can improve the victims' long-term outlook of morbidity and mortality by as much as 44%, as reported by

MDGo in the United States

The full implementation of MDGo as a medi-car feature is still a ways away before it can be installed on your car. Even in the company's home country of Israel, their product is only available to be viewed as a demo. It is still very much in the concept phase.
Currently, the company is fostering relationships with insurance companies as a means of attracting investors. While it is too early to tell if MDGo can deliver a viable product, its success could truly be a lifesaver.
