Nürburgring is the ultimate test
The new Corvette—which only started making its way to European streets in October of 2021—is a rare site among Europeans. For this reason, there was much speculation surrounding the car.
Nevertheless, the Euopean-spec C8 in all its glory with the standard Z51 Performance Package and 2LT trim level made its way to Nürburgring, a motorsports complex that has long been considered the ultimate trial for racing cars.
The only non-OEM modification made was upgraded brake pads.
To up the ante even more, the test drive was also driver Misha Charoudin’s first time in a Corvette.Charoudin himself admitted that prior to driving the Corvette, he had a bias against American-made cars.
How the C8 Corvette performed
From the moment he stepped into the car, Charoudin was pleased. "as someone who has no prior experience with Corvettes, I really really like it," he said, as reported by Topspeed.com.
In his first two minutes on the track, he has already passed nearly two dozen cars. Charoudin was stunned.
“I never thought a U.S. car could handle like this on track out of the box,” he said, “I was doing corner speeds through certain corners that I wouldn’t do in other cars.” Charoudin even agreed it was the best value for the money of any performance car on the market.
The C8 Corvette performed with near-perfect suspension, no brake fade, and a lateral grip and feel that made for a comfortable and exhilarating driving experience.
