First released in 2017, the
Chevrolet
MyLink infotainment system is specially made just for Chevy owners. Now available in every Chevy produced since then (it's now called the Chevy Infotainment 3 in newer models), the impressive program integrates technology to ensure the safest driving experience.
With advanced smartphone and safety integration, how would you customize your Chevrolet MyLink?

Smartphone integration makes for easy navigation

A distraction-free system allows drivers to remain focused on the road, instead of checking their mobile phones every few minutes.
You’re able to connect using your smartphone and the system works with both Apple and Android. And the program will automatically reconnect with your device every time you start the MyLink system. It’s also super customizable.
The infotainment system features a 7- to 8-inch touchscreen that functions a lot like the phone you use every day. Drivers can safely browse through apps and settings, and many have found that adding a screen protector gives them extra peace of mind.
Ultra-convenient, Chevy’s system divides its offerings into different categories such as media, text, weather, and navigation. There’s also an option to create a favorites list.
You can also use Chevrolet MyLink to enhance your overall driving experience. Longing for a keyless entry? Dreaming about more creative lighting in the cabin? Various user-friendly  features are at your fingertips, literally.

Another awesome feature that keeps your hands on the wheel is the system’s use of voice commands and accurate voice recognition.
There’s a Push to Talk button on the steering wheel as well as on the MyLink touchscreen. Drivers can ask navigation questions, request their favorite song, or call up friends on the way to their party to see if they need any extra ice.
As far as remembering your voice, MyLink does an excellent job capturing names and commands. In fact, the more you use it, the more accurate it gets. Don’t worry, it’s totally OK to talk to yourself in the car.
While MyLink comes with a plethora of pre-installed apps, when connected to the internet (or using Chevy's 4G LTE data plan) you can browse the Chevrolet Shop for additional options.
The Chevrolet MyLink comes with a Safety Alert Seat. According to
Chevrolet
, “This feature uses left, right, or both-side driver seat vibration pulses to help you identify the direction of potential crashes so you can quickly take action.” You can also switch these alerts to a beeping noise instead.
To ease the minds of
teenage
parents, Chevy created the Teen Driver feature. According to
Car and Driver
, “The system can [provide] speed warnings, [set] music volume limits, and [prevent] safety features from being disabled.” Teen Driver even provides an in-vehicle report card and mutes audio when passengers aren’t wearing their seatbelts.
Another cool addition is a built-in wi-fi hot spot for you and six other friends. This ensures that no passenger will be bored on a
long road trip
, as streaming videos and downloading games provides hours of entertainment.
Fortunately, MyLink comes already installed in your Chevy vehicle. However, you do need to set up the system and connect your phone.
First, when your smartphone’s Bluetooth is activated, look for the “phone” icon on the MyLink touchscreen. Press the “phone” icon, and choose the “pair device” option. Then under your phone’s list of possible Bluetooth devices to connect to, choose “Chevrolet MyLink.” Easy as pie.
And no need to worry about installing updates either. The program downloads them on its own and once you turn on the system again, it's good to go.
While MyLink comes free of charge, there may be other fees associated with the innovative technology. Also, it's important to double-check your current phone policy for calling and texting, as your data plan rates will still apply. And the Chevrolet Shop may require you to buy a subscription to obtain certain apps.
Whether you’re an Apple user and opt for MyLink’s SIRI® Eyes Free or take advantage of the Stitcher podcast app, this entertainment communication system will help navigate you to your destination and the future of technology.
