There are many
car brands
in the world, and certain car brands are often known for being good at a few things. For example, Toyota has a legendary reputation for making reliable cars that don't break down often. When it comes to which car brands have the best value, however, that's a different story. Here's a look at the car brands with the best value, as well as the car brands with the worst value.

It's hard to qualify what value means when it comes to a car brand

When it comes to something like a car's performance, it's easy to see which car is faster or more powerful than others. This isn't the case when it comes to value, however. A car is a complex machine, and different people will find different aspects of a car to be worth the price tag.
It can be possible to measure value, though.
Consumer Reports
ran a study that asked owners of cars whether they were satisfied with their purchase. One of the things that owners had to consider is whether their car was a good value for the price tag. The results aren't too surprising.

What car brands have the best value?

The three car brands that had the best value rating were Mazda, Subaru, and Genesis. All three automakers scored a 3 out of 5 in the value category. Mazda is already well-known for making great cars at an affordable price tag.
For example, the Mazda CX-5 is considered to have a better value than its rival, the Volvo XC40. This is the same story for Subaru. Most Subarus are well-known to be highly capable cars at a relatively affordable price tag.
Unlike Mazda and Subaru, Genesis is a luxury brand, but it still scored well for value. This is because Genesis is actually owned by Hyundai, so Genesis has a lot of experience in making good cars. Genesis also offers some great value thanks to its generous warranty period.

Many car brands have a poor value score

Those three brands scored very well for their value, but surprisingly, most other car brands did very poorly. Every other car brand got a score of either 1 out of 5 or 2 out of 5.
A lot of popular brands also received very poor value ratings. Despite making some of the best trucks on the market, Ford, GMC, and Ram all scored a 1 out of 5 for value. Chevy, on the other hand, did better as it got a 2 out of 5.
Even car brands that scored well in other areas, such as Tesla and Porsche, did not score well for their value rating. Both Tesla and Porsche got high scores for their driving and comfort levels, but both brands only got a 1 out of 5 for value.
Other popular brands were somewhere in between. Toyota, Honda, and Volkswagen are well-known for making good, reliable cars. But all three automakers received a 2 out of 5 for value.
