Among McLaren's line of exotic hypercars, the 2022 McLaren GT sets itself apart from the rest of the pack with its unrivaled luxury. It boasts incredible acceleration power, additional cargo space, a tech-bolstered stereo system, and exquisite leather upholstery.
While the vehicle bears the initials "GT," the 2022 McLaren doesn't match the grand-touring character of exotic luxury cars like the Aston Martin DB11, but its performance-first design comes hot on the heels of the Maserati MC20. Its six-figure base price not only means only the wealthy can experience this beauty, but owners also have to splurge significantly for auto insurance.
The 2022 GT is more luxurious than other McLaren models.

The 2022 McLaren GT's design and features

The GT's engine performance holds true to McLaren's dedication to epitomize the supercar segment. It packs a powerful 4.0L V8 that delivers 612 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. This motor combines with a seven-speed automatic transmission that transfers power to the rear wheels, enabling it to dash from 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds.
The McLaren GT is a beauty with a sleek yet purposeful profile from the exterior to the interior. The outside is scrupulously crafted throughout for improved aerodynamics. You won't miss the finely crafted and bulging rear haunches for enhanced air intake. McLaren gave it a flat underbody to generate downforce, keeping it stable when cruising at blistering speeds.
As highlighted on Car and Driver, the 2022 McLaren GT offers better cabin space than other vehicles in its class, thanks to its two-person capacity. Dihedral doors offer access to its leather upholstered interior. You can choose an optional electrochromic glass roof that tints to varied levels at the press of a button.
Although it doesn't feature ventilated and massaging seats like its peers, the vehicle boasts a high-performance infotainment system, complete with a 7-inch touchscreen with private-jet-inspired graphics. Other standard techs include SiriusXM satellite radio, a four-speaker stereo, and navigation.

How does it compare with previous McLaren GT models?

The 2022 GT is more luxurious than other McLaren models, like the 2018 570 line. Although the latter packs a 3.8L twin-turbo V8, it's not in any way inferior. The engine delivers 562 hp with a blazing acceleration of 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds, higher than the GT.
There are three trims in the 570 family, but only the 570S and 570GT assume a coupe design. However, the 570S Spider truly catches the eye with its drop-top design like the 2020 600 LT, a feature that would have complemented the 2022 GT's luxurious demeanor. But the GT's expanded cargo space and interior comfort mean you can take it on long trips.
You may liken the 2022 GT's engine performance with the 2020 720S as both cars feature 4.0L V8s, but the higher end 720S provides an F1-like experience on the streets. It offers a high-spirited ride with its 710 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque, 112 more horsepower—enough power to take it from 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds.

The 2022 McLaren GT MSRP

If you'd like to own and experience the 2022 GT's performance and luxury, you'll have to meet the sticker price of $215,000. However, you'll be limited for choices because McLaren only rolled the car out in a single trim level.
Still, it's steeped in amenities, style, and performance that embody the relationship between a car and its owner. It comes with 20- and 21-inch wheels in the front and rear, respectively. You'll also love the LED headlamps that feature light and rain sensors for high-speed road visibility in any weather.
Enter the interior and experience quality leather upholstery, carefully trimmed storage space, and aluminum controls. The GT coupe also comes with a tech-ready infotainment system, SiriusXM satellite radio and navigation, and a backup camera.
