BMW created its largest, most powerful engine yet with the V12, and now it’s selling the very last of the V12s in an extremely exclusive run.
Referred to simply as “the Final V12,” the release will be a part of
BMW’s
7 Series line of full-size luxury sedans. This last run, however, won’t be available to just anyone.

The 2022 M760Li xDrive is invitation-only

According to
Kelley Blue Book
, the invitation-only release will only be available to buyers who have purchased a BMW V-12 car in the past
Only 12 of the vehicles will be made, with a plaque in the center console denoting each one of its place in the series. The interior door sill plates will be conspicuously emblazoned with a notation that reads “The Final V12.” Enthusiasts of the powerful combustion engine can add to their collection for $200,000.
The powerful twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 engine boasts the following stats:
  • Rated at 601 hp
  • 627 lb-ft of torque
  • 8-speed automatic transmission
  • Goes from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds

The state of the 12-cylinder engine, and an electric future

Fans of 12-cylinder may find the powerful engine harder to come by in the coming years, as more and more automakers are pivoting towards electric.
While the specs of BMW’s final V12 are impressive, they’re extremely comparable to those of the brand’s latest electric sport sedan, the BMW i4, which also clocks in at a much lower price tag.
As the automotive industry pivots towards electric power, even the most impressive of combustion engines may become something more of a collectors’ item.
