The
BMW
435i was the top performer in the 4 Series when introduced in 2013, offering greater horsepower than its cousins, the 420i and 428i.
The 3 Series was a staple of the BMW line since the 1970s, meaning the 4 Series needed to step up its game to meet its customers' expectations of a sporty streetcar with BMW's luxury touches.
The BMW 435i certainly met that bill, even for customers accustomed to the BMW racing M series cars.

The introduction of the 4 Series

BMW unveiled the 4 Series coupe at the Detroit Auto Show in 2013. Though the F32 4 Series shared the platform of the F30 3 Series, it came with a completely different look.
The 4 Series was wider and sat lower than its predecessor, offering improved handling and road feel, according to
autoevolution
. BMW created a sportier look with its swept headlights, shorter but wider grill, and raked A-pillars.
The 3 Series had evolved from a sporty 2-door coupe in its early years into a 4-door coupe, a sedan, a station wagon, and even a shortened compact. BMW was determined to get back to that fun appeal of a 2-door sports car.
In that fun vein, the 4 Series came with standard bucket seats and a dashboard that directed all the controls and center console toward the driver, ensuring you felt in control of your entire driving experience. The rear seat featured seating for two, but couldn't be considered roomy. After all, this was a vehicle focused on the driver experience.
In 2014, BMW added a two-door, hardtop convertible and a five-door, liftback sedan known as the Gran Coupé. The 435i vehicles continued through the 2018 model year when BMW transitioned to a 440i for its top-end model.

What made the BMW 435i stand out?

The BMW 435i was the most powerful, and therefore the most fun to drive, of the variations available in the 4 Series.
Its straight-line six-cylinder engine offered 306 horsepower at 5,800 to 6,000 rpm, compared to 245 hp and 184 hp, respectively, in the four-cylinder 428i and 420i.
All three lines in the 4 Series were available with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. All also came equipped with the BMW TwinPower Turbo technology that included a standard Twin-Scroll turbocharger or an xDrive version with a multi-stage, variable-geometry, high-pressure turbocharger.

When the BMW 435i coupe hit the market in 2014, the original MRSP was $46,925 with a bump to $48,925 for the all-wheel xDrive. The 2014 convertible, which featured an auto-retracting hardtop, started at $55,825 and could top $65,000 fully loaded.
Introduced in the 2015 model year, the BMW 435i Gran Coupe carried a base price of $46,750.
Because the BMW 435i was made for a limited number of years and has been judged a reliable and fun-to-drive coupe, they have retained a good market value.
Kelley Blue Book
estimates a fair market range for a 2016 BMW 435i coupe to be between $24,500 and $28,000.
While the BMW 435i Gran Coupe might have a slightly lower range, the convertible would be worth slightly more, from about $27,500 to $31,500. Those values will vary depending upon mileage and upgrades.
