BMW

luxury cars
. But not everyone can get behind last year’s redesign of the automaker’s 4 Series lineup.
Available as a coupe, a grand coupe, and a convertible, the redesign from 2021 will make any head swivel for a second look. BMW paired a stylish exterior with a powerful, fuel-efficient powertrain and luxurious cab. The only major criticism seems to be about the car’s nose.

Test scores are in for the BMW 4 Series, and the results are good

Consensus is growing about the BMW 4 Series. When the German automaker revealed the car’s new design last year, it became a point of contention between critics and car lovers, especially the new “beaver-toothed” grille, as
The Drive
put it.
But as the new look moves into its second year on BMW’s lineup, opinions are starting to soften and appreciation of the 4 Series looks to be winning out. Review scores are averaging in the 80s, thanks primarily to the car’s impeccable performance.
Whether powered by the base model’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine or turbo straight-six and 48-volt mild hybrid system offered in the M4 upgrade,
MotorTrend
says each version of the 4 Series offers plenty of pep and excitement.

Missteps from the BMW 4 Series

The 4 Series’ look and performance are hard to argue with, but that doesn’t mean BMW built the perfect car. Critics found a few issues besides the grille to gripe about.
The jury still seems out on the car’s interior. Some enjoyed its high-quality materials and eye-catching design, others found it noisy, “boilerplate,” and not as swanky as competing small luxury models. Everyone agrees that the car offers an excellent amount of cargo space, though.
Reviews of the “iDrive” infotainment system were also a little mixed. While critics enjoyed the multiple control options, many found the system to be overly complex.
The only other key critique of the 4 Series focused on its price. Compared to rival models like the Audi A5 and Mercedes C-Class, the 4 Series was more expensive across trim levels while offering only marginally more luxury and performance.

Owning a 4 Series

The 4 Series lineup starts at $45,200 for the base model Gran Coupe and ends with an $86,300 MSRP for the M4 convertible. Add all the possible features, and that car can cost you $120,000.
The car’s been praised for its excellent fuel economy, but those savings won’t be enough to make up for the average rate of
car insurance
which sits at $3,173.
Don’t let that rate bring your hopes of owning a 4 Series down, though. It’s easy to save on car insurance by shopping with Jerry.
