If you’re considering buying a minivan, the
Honda
Odyssey is a great choice. Since the car’s debut in 1995, it has built a reputation as a
reliable family car
. That’s because the Honda Odyssey has tons of storage for both cargo and passengers, and great safety ratings, too.
But, since the car has been in production for so long, there are, of course, some model years that have proven to be better than others.

Best: 2022 Honda Odyssey

It’s no surprise that the newest model year of the Honda Odyssey ranks as one of the best, because it has all the newest features and technology, plus a large range of trims to select from. Honda has made big improvements in terms of engine, comfort, and fuel economy in the 2022 Odyssey.
Consumer Reports
ranks the overall score of the 2022 Odyssey at a high 78 out of 100. The road test score was even more impressive, at an 85 out of 100, with special appreciation for the quiet cabin, comfortable rear seats, and overall smooth ride. But all these great features come with a price, as the 2022 Odyssey starts around $33,000 and can rise up to $49,000.

Best: 2020 Honda Odyssey

If you don’t want the newest Honda Odyssey, a two-year-old model is also a safe choice. Prices for the 2020 Honda Odyssey are a bit lower, starting around $30,000 and maxing out around $45,000, so drivers will be able to save a couple thousand without sacrificing many of the Odyssey perks.
Consumer Reports rates the 2020 Odyssey as one of the most reliable models, giving it a perfect 5 out of 5 reliability rating. Beyond that, this model has an impressive owner satisfaction rating of 4 out of 5, and a solid fuel economy with an overall 23 mpg.

Best: 2006 Honda Odyssey

For drivers that want a used Honda Odyssey and don’t mind an older model, the 2006 Honda Odyssey is another one of the best model years. This car retails for only between $4,000 and $6,000, and while it doesn’t have the latest and greatest features, it will get you where you need to go for a great price.
A used 2006 Honda Odyssey will likely come with a lot of miles already on it, but it should be a safe choice for local driving. According to Consumer Reports, it has a promising owner satisfaction rating of 4 out of 5, plus a 20 mpg fuel economy rating.

Worst: 2010 Honda Odyssey

And now for the worst Honda Odyssey year—2010. While buying used is a great choice for drivers looking to save some money,
MotorBiscuit
advises you don’t waste yours on the 2010 Honda Odyssey. This worst year title has been earned mainly based on the car’s reliability and owner satisfaction ratings by Consumer Reports.
For both reliability and owner satisfaction, the 2010 Odyssey earned just a 2 out of 5. On top of that, the 2010 model received a 1 out of 5 in the common issues category, citing minor engine concerns and paint problems as the root cause. This rating no doubt drove down the overall reliability score. So while most Honda Odyssey models are great, be sure to steer clear of the 2010 Odyssey if you see it in the lot.
