As gas prices have increased across the country, many people have reduced their driving or have relied on other methods of transportation. However, some people can not afford to not be driving their car, and
gas prices aren’t anticipated to drop
anytime soon.
While making sure your
car maintenance
is up to date can reduce your costs in the long run (among many other expensive problems in the future), there are also other ways to save money.
There are many apps these days that can help you save on gas,
Jerry
goes over the best apps to help you save.

One of the best apps to save on gas: Upside

Upside is an excellent app for saving gas, and it’s free to download and use. Upside will locate the nearest gas stations near you and tell you the original price for gas and then how much you can save per gallon by using the app.
Once you sign-up and link a card all you have to do is press the “claim” button and then go to the station and fill up.
Upside
will reimburse the savings you got by checking that you did use the card you selected in the app.
You can track how much you’ve accrued back in the top right corner of the Upside app and eventually you can cash it out. Another bonus to using the app is the ability to get cash back when you’re shopping at certain grocery stores or dining out.
When it comes to gas though, keep in mind that the app will typically only show 76 and Mobile gas stations, so if neither of those is your cup of tea you’re best saving money through the app’s other offers.

Gas Buddy shows you the cheapest gas stations close to you

Gas Buddy
has been around for quite a while, and the reasoning for that is simple: it shows you the gas prices near you. Gas Buddy is free to use, but if you sign-up in the app for the Gas Buddy card you can get extra savings.
If you provide your driver’s license and bank account info you can get the Gas Buddy card. The Gas Buddy card is currently offering up to 25 cents off per gallon, the operative word here being “up to”.
You can save 25 cents, but you might end up saving less, though at the end of the day savings are savings. If you want a guaranteed way to save 20 cents off per gallon you can sign up for Gas Buddy Premium which is a paid service.
Whether that’s worth it or not will depend on how much you drive and if that would actually save you more money than you’re spending.

One of the best ways you can save money right now

While using these apps will save you some change at the pumps, there’s another way you can get some good savings in. Comparison shopping between car insurance carriers is the best way to make sure you’re getting the coverage you want at an affordable cost.
