Comedians in Cars Cars Getting Coffee combines two of life’s best things: cars and
coffee
. And of course, Jerry Seinfeld’s usual hilarious self helps keep the show rolling, too.
With an eclectic bunch of classic cars sprawling across season three, it took some forethought to decide on which models caught our eye the most. But ultimately, it came down to these four vehicles, all of which hold a piece of
automotive history
and luxurious charm at the same time.

1949 Porsche 356/2

Guest: Jay Leno
S3, E3: “Comedy Is a Concealed Weapon”
Even though
Hagerty
reports that the 1949 Porsche 356/2 has only 49-hp, don’t let that fool you. This tiny two-door has enough swagger to take the place of several modern Porsches. Even though it’s not a fire-breather, Jay and Jerry took the opportunity to take a ‘49 356/2 out for a joy ride. What few people realize is that Porsche was producing tanks for World War II only 4 years prior. Quite the glow-up for a German-based company in a war-torn Europe.

1966 MGB Roadster

Guest: Todd Barry
S3, E4: “So You’re Mellow and Tense?”
Chosen for guest Todd Barry, the 1966 MGB Roadster is a classic ride that many people may not actually be familiar with. Despite
Hagerty
knocking its puny 97-hp engine, this European roadster had all the class and handling of a Porsche of the same era.
The 1966 version is revered for its larger cabin and trunk space, making the experience a bit more breathable for both the driver and passenger. MGBs even found a faithful segment in the muscle car-bound American car market of the late ‘60s. Not bad for a 4-cylinder.

1981 DeLorean DMC-12

Guest: Patton Oswalt
S3, E2: “How Would You Kill Superman?”
Classic.com
highlights that the DMC-12 was a car that will always be famous because it’s featured in the Back to The Future film series. However, the 1981 Delorean is classically known for its seagull-style wings and aggressive two-door coupe design.
Even though the DeLorean looks every bit the part of a sports car, an underpowered engine and sluggish transmission ultimately killed off what was definitely one of the 1980s’ coolest vehicles. Its underpowered design didn’t keep Seinfeld from choosing to drive Patton Oswalt around in it, enjoying some laughs in a blast from the past.

1967 Volvo 1800S

Guest: Tina Fey
S3, E5: “Feces Are My Purview”
As
Hagerty
explains, the Volvo 1800S was the carmaker’s first solid attempt at crafting a sports car. It grew in stature over the next six years, arguably peaking in 1967. Volvo’s 1800S was powered by a punchy, yet economical 1.8-liter engine that pushed 115-hp. Chosen for episode five of season three of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, the 1800S helped cart Jerry and Tina around as they passed hilarious banter back and forth.
