Best affordable cars of 2020: Sensible sedans

The Hyundai Elantra features a bold design and lots of interior space. With a starting price of only $19,650, the Elantra comes with lots of standard options and a comprehensive five-year warranty. The base SE Elantra sports a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four with Atkinson cycle with 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque.

Best affordable cars of 2020: Cheap crossovers

The Subaru Crosstrek is a compact crossover that provides plenty of versatility. For $23,295, you’ll get a 2.0-liter normally-aspirated boxer-four with 152 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel-drive crossover is super spacious, functional, and can hit 60 mph in 9.9 seconds.
We love that the Ford Ecosport has a cargo space of about 44 cubic feet and can handle a max load of 1,157 pounds. One engine option includes a 1.0-liter EcoBoost with 125 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque or a 140 hp and 133 lb-ft of torque option is also on the table. 
If you need more power in your life, the 2.0-liter direct-injected normally-aspirated inline-four features 166 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. Overall EPA for the engines is up to 46 mpg.

The five-seater comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with a choice of either a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 203 hp or a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 302 hp. Drivers can opt for front- or all-wheel drive as well.
