Aston Martin, for example, has four cars in the U.S. lineup for 2022, three of which have V12s. For the DB11, the large engine is an optional upgrade, but for the DBS and the Valkyrie, it’s standard.
Fellow British brands Rolls-Royce and Bentley also pair their models with V12 engines—or in the case of Bentley, W12 engines. This comes as no surprise to fans of luxury vehicles from England. Rolls-Royce started building V12 engines in the 1930s.
Other 2022 models with V12 engines include the Ferrari GTS and Competizione, the Lamborghini Countach and Aventador, and the Mercedes Maybach S680.

Why are V12 engine cars disappearing?
V12 engines were never common, to be honest. They were always reserved for the most expensive models, racecars, or heavy transport like buses and industrial vehicles. They were always expensive to build and buy.
But the pressure to transition has pushed some brands to drop their V12s from production almost entirely—the most notable being Mercedes. For years, the German automaker’s highest-performing models were equipped with 12 cylinders. Now, it only offers one.
The lower number of V12 engine cars might also have something to do with the new-found performance capabilities of electric propulsion. Supercar brands like Lamborghini, Lotus, and Ferrari are adding hybrids and even fully electric models into their lineups.
