background
Fans of the blockbuster action franchise Transformers or director Michael Bay will be keen to find out that he has put four of the iconic
classic cars
featured in the films up for sale: the original 2010 Chevrolet Camaro “Bumblebee,” 2016 Ford Mustang “Barricade,” 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and the 2014 Lamborghini Aventador.
Bay—whose IMBD credits include such box office hits as The Rock, Pearl Harbor, and Armageddon —is no stranger to just how much the right car can amp up the adrenaline in any given scene. Both his personal Porsche 964 Turbo and Ferrari 550 Maranello were used in Bad Boys and Bad Boys II
With a resume like that, you know his personal car collection is going to be impressive. Now, a small slice of this Hollywood A-lister’s garage is up for sale. Read on below to get the 411 on these four superstar cars, and their astronomic asking prices.

The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro “Bumblebee”

Instantly recognizable by its constraining bright yellow and deep black paint job, the “Bumblee” was featured in Transformers 3: Dark Side of the Moon.
Produced by General Motors, this car was based on the 2010 Camaro SS but fitted out with tons of added features, some for aesthetic appeal and power, and some for filming.
According to
Motor Authority
, It looks like this car made its way into the hands of the current sellers from a group auction at
Barrett Jackson
in 2019. It was auctioned along with the other three Bumblebee Camaros from each Transformers movie, racking up $500,000 for the group sale.

The 2016 Ford Mustang “Barricade”

The “Barricade” Ford Mustang GT Police car was featured in the filming of Transformers: The Last Knight. This heavily customized Mustang was based on the Six Generation S550 platform, but instead is outfitted with huge aero ram bars and finished in Deep Impact Blue.
With an aggressive look—complete with a large front bumper, push bars, and large air scoops on the hood—it played the “bad cop” opposite our hero Bumblebee Camaro.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, also seen in Transformers 3: Dark Side of the Moon, was originally on loan from Mercedes-Benz for filming. It went on to be used as a press and show car for Mercedes-Benz, but you might remember it from the film as driven by Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington.
The super-light sports car is most notable for its sleek silver exterior, compact sportiness, and dramatic suicide doors.

2014 Lamborghini Aventador

The intimidating-looking Aventador did indeed provide a disguise for a villain in the fourth Transformers movie, Transformers: Age of Extinction.
This car was built specifically for Bay by Lamborghini. It retails at about $400,000 when new, but Bay likely shelled out more on customizations.

How the sale happened

All four cars came into possession of Miami dealership Curated via a partnership with former entertainment news anchor Alex Aievoli, who introduced the dealership to Michael Bay.
The team collaborated, and for eight months they worked to bring a personal collection from Bay to the public for the first time. Each car will be complete with documentation and original Transformers movie footage. Want a package deal? You’ll be shelling out a cool $2,000,000 for all four.

Car insurance for classic cars

If you’re looking into restoring or modifying a classic car like a vintage Chevrolet Camaro, you need to get the right deal on
classic car coverage
Because classic car insurance relies on an agreed-upon appraised value rather than book value, a recent appraisal typically needs to be performed before you can buy a policy. You can apply with specialized carriers like American Collectors, but not all insurers will let you buy a policy online.
