background
Alfa Romeo doesn't boast that many trims in its lineup, except for the high-end Quadrifoglio versions and the base Veloce trim. However, the Italian automaker announced that the Estrema Series, comprising the Giulia and Stelvio
luxury models
, is expected to make its market debut in 2023. The two Estrema models bridge the gap between the base trim and its high-performance flagship models.
There's already a $40,000 price difference separating the models on both extreme ends, but the two Estrema models are meant to solve the price discrepancy. Besides, the Italian carmaker offers consumer-friendly car warranties to guarantee quality and value, which is certainly good news for your
car insurance policy
. So, what makes the new Giulia and Stelvio so special? Let's find out!

The specs and features of the Giulia and Stelvio "Estrema" Editions

As noted by
Top Speed
, each Estrema model comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that cranks out 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque. That power is transferred to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission via Alfa Romeo's Q4 AWD system to ensure the Stelvio makes it from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds and the Giulia makes it in 5.5 seconds. The Q4 AWD is a standard feature in the former, but optional for the Giulia.
The two Estrema models come in a bold, gloss black trim, and you won't miss the carbon-fiber embellishments on the exterior, strategically placed on the grille's veneers and mirror caps. Inside, you'll find exquisite black leather seats with central armrests, a leather dash, a shift lever, and upper door panel coverings—all these scrupulously blended with red stitching.
The engineers and techs at Alfa Romeo gave the Giulia and Stelvio Estrema models a generous array of tech and safety features, including active cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and forward-collision warning. If you upgrade to the optional Active Assist Plus package, you also get lane-keeping assist, traffic jam assist, driver attention alert, and other helpful features.

What's the cost of the Alfa Romeo Estrema models?

Alfa Romeo has confirmed that the 2023 Estrema editions—available in four colors—will have above-$50,000 price tags. The RWD Giulia Estrema will start at $55,090, and the Stelvio Estrema costs $58,950. If you prefer the AWD Giulia to its RWD version, you'll have to spend about $2,000 more, excluding the destination fee of about $1,595.
As previously mentioned, there was a huge price gap between the Alfa Romeo Veloce and the premium Quadrifoglio versions. With the release of the Estrema series,
Alfa Romeo
offers its fans a chance to drive a high-performance car at an affordable price.
You can now place your order for the 2023 Stelvio or Giulia, which are expected to roll out in the third quarter of this year. We'd recommend the Stelvio Estrema because, for an additional $3,000, you get a car with adaptive cruise control that ties the body down, providing fast, crisp, and responsive steering.

Other interesting details about the Alfa Romeo Estrema Series

If you find Alfa Romeo's Estrema models pretty familiar, that's because they are inspired by the base Veloce trim. However, the car manufacturer brings the 2023 versions with upgraded driving dynamics technology from high-performance Quadrifoglio models. For instance, they both feature Alfa Active Suspension that adjusts shock valving at high speeds while enhancing handling and comfort.
With the new Estrema models, shoppers can customize their car based on their color preference, although from a limited range. You can choose the Misano Blue, Vulcano Black, Alfa White, and Alfa Rosso. Pair any of those colors with the black alloy wheels and you get a picture-perfect car ready to hit the road.
Additionally, Alfa Romeo provides hassle-free warranty options for the limited-edition Estrema models. The automaker rolls out the cars with a four-year/50,000-mile warranty, four-year/unlimited roadside assistance services, and one-year/10,000-miles worth of complimentary services.
