The 2023 Mustang: What We Know So Far

The 2023 Mustang will likely have an exterior we’re familiar with, but completely new engine options.

Although we’re only a few months into 2022, it’s never too early to start getting excited about the new cars that are to come next year. In particular, the 2023
Ford
Mustang is one car we think you should be looking forward to.
Ford Mustangs are known for their show-stopping appearance,
fast engines
and unique interiors. The 2023 Mustang won’t be any different, but will also have its own special perks and features. Here’s what we know so far about the 2023 Ford Mustang.

2023 Mustang Engine and Performance

Perhaps the biggest rumor going around about the 2023 Mustang revolves around its engine. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, if this rumor is true, it would make the 2023 Mustang completely different than generations past.
According to
MotorTrend
, there’s reason to believe the 2023 Mustang will launch with not one, but two, hybrid engine options. This information was deduced by taking a look at a Ford engineer’s LinkedIn profile, which states experience working on the 2023 Mustang’s 2.3L I-4 hybrid and 5.0L V8 hybrid powertrains.
If a hybrid version of the Mustang is in the making, it will likely be a similar horsepower to the current Mustang’s 2.3L turbo-four engine that supports 330 hp, but have better fuel economy and more power.
Beyond the two hybrid engines, there will likely still be existing gas-powered options available to drivers as well, like the 2.3L mentioned above and a 5.0L V8. However, it’s important to note that if rumors of the hybrid engine are true, it might not be ready for the 2023 model of the car.

2023 Mustang Exterior and Style

On the outside, it’s likely drivers can still expect to see the classic mustang look from the 2023 Ford Mustang. According to
Gear Patrol
, Ford might modernize certain exterior elements to give the car a more futuristic feel, but we can expect the 2023 version to just be an update of what we’ve seen, along with most of the
same specs
At this point, all we have to go on to deduce the car’s looks are spy-shots, since Ford hasn’t released any official images. But, from those spy-shots,
MotorBiscuit
predicts the 2023 Ford Mustang will have more aggressive styling with an angular hood, and the same modernization from earlier years Gear Patrol talked about as well.

2023 Mustang Release Date and Price

Again, this is another category we don’t have too much concrete information on. If you’re curious about a release date for the 2023 Ford Mustang, our best guess is that you’ll likely be able to see the car in dealerships in early 2023. It will be sold throughout the U.S. and in other countries, and like earlier models of the Mustang, it will be built at the Ford Flat Rock plant in Michigan.
As for pricing,
Kelley Blue Book
predicts the base price of the fastback/coupe format will start around $28,000 and get you a turbo four-cylinder engine with a choice of six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.
As you climb up in trims and engines, the 2023 Mustang could cost anywhere from $33,000 all the way to $73,000 for a mustang with performance models like the Shelby GT500. Because the hybrid powertrains would be all new, there’s no real estimating how much it would cost to get your hands on one of them.
