2022 sports cars with cutting-edge speed and muscle

If you want thrills at an affordable price, look no further than the Mazda MX-5 Miata. The convertible sports car offers a satisfying six-speed manual transmission and an automatic one as well.
With eager and playful handling, the four-cylinder engined speedster comes with a manually folding soft top. An expensive RF model is available if you’d rather have a power-folding Targa hardtop.
Make some noise for the new Chevrolet Camaro coupe and convertible. If you like a satisfying stick-shift transmission and a powerful smooth ride, you’ll love the 275-hp default engine. But of course, if you’re able to opt for the 335 hp V6 engine or the 455 hp V8 engine you’ll get much punchier acceleration.
While it’s not as much of a daily driver as the Dodge Challenger or Ford Mustang, the 1LE package makes this performer an incredible value for its price.
The new Audi R8 is worth its six-figure price tag. “Now being called the R8 V10 Performance RWD, the rear-wheel-drive R8 variant develops 562 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque from the familiar 5.2-liter V-10,”
HotCars
tells us. While we didn’t get the promised 1,000-hp electric model, the performance variant is said to reach 602 hp.

2022 Sports Cars with engaging handling and dynamic performance

The Nissan 400Z is known as a “Subaru crusher.” The new Z houses a twin-turbo V6 engine with 444 hp and a manual transmission. It also weighs about 3,252 pounds. Drivers can expect a well-overdue yet highly impressive infotainment system and a price tag of less than $40,000.
The Toyota GR86 was developed in conjunction with the Subaru BRZ. In an exciting upgrade, the GR 86 features a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 228 hp. There’s nothing like a Toyota with a manual transmission, and it can jump from 0 to 60 in 6.2 seconds. While it’s no supercar, it’s a fun ride with lots of new tech and safety features.
The gorgeous Lotus Emira will offer drivers different gearbox and engine options. One option for buyers includes an AMG 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. According to HotCars, “It’s based on the engine found in the Mercedes-AMG A45 S and is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.”
In the First Edition, drivers will receive a supercharged 3.5-liter Toyota V6 engine (also found in the Lotus Exige). In this edition, the engine will only be offered as a six-speed manual transmission. Other V6 models will be fitted with either an automatic or six-speed manual gearbox. If you’ve got an extra $2,400 laying around, you can add a dual-clutch transmission to your joy ride.

Straight-up beasts on the track

The exclusive Hennessey Venom F5 is rumored to boast a top speed of at least 200 mph by only using half of its twin-turbo V8 engine. And did we mention it is powered by 1817 hp?! At full capacity, top speeds could reach at least 300 mph.
The Porsche 911 GT3 features a new control-arm front suspension and a peculiar rear wing mounted on the top instead of the bottom. The naturally aspirated GT3 cranks out 502 hp with a 4.0-liter flat-six engine. The race-car-inspired auto is also the only 911 that is not turbocharged.
“The specialness of the rear-mounted mill is further realized by the telepathic seven-speed PDK automatic transmission or the rewarding six-speed manual,”
Car and Driver
notes.
Don’t call it the “Poor Man’s 911.” The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS sports a hot flax-six and a whopping 500 hp, upping the ante from its previous generation’s 414 hp. It’s also lighter and as beautiful as ever.
Ending our list of 2022 sports cars, the Audi RS3 is a sporty sedan featuring a 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbocharged gas engine with 395 hp. According to HotCars, “All that power goes via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to all four wheels, as per usual in Audi’s performance-orientated models, Quattro all-wheel drive is standard.”
The RS3 also offers drift mode, as if the 3.8 seconds to hit 60 mph time wasn’t fast enough.
