Chevy’s
new 2022 Silverado ZR2 aims to deliver what consumers have been asking for, and push them into the ring with Ford and Ram. The new Silverado ZR2 brings much needed updates to its two weakest areas, according to consumers and reviewers: the interior and the lack of cutting edge technology.
Jerry
decided to take a look to see what new features would make the Silverado ZR2 a worthy contender.

The 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 comes with all the latest updates

The ZR2’s interior has been completely revamped, according to
Autotrader
. It is complete with dash and center stack screens over 12 and 13 inches, respectively.
The truck comes equipped with Chevrolet parent company’s
General Motors’ newest technolog
y, as well as Google Assistant tech, checking off more items on the modern driver’s wishlist.
ZR2 trucks with the High Country,
top-of-the-line trim
also boast open-pore wood trim and luxury materials throughout the spiffed up interior.
The High Country trim will also feature the GM Super Cruise system, allowing limited hands-free driving on pre-mapped roads for driver convenience.

Contending with the competition from Ford and Ram

This latest development from Chevy is also ready to take on off-road terrain.
The ZR2 comes equipped with multimatic dampers, front and rear e-locking differentials, gigantic mud-terrain tires, an updated bumper design for an improved approach angle, and a 6.2-liter V8 engine. The pickup also has a rear axle capable of hauling a 4,000 maximum, with a towing capacity of 13,000 pounds when equipped properly.
The ZR2 beats the Ford F-150 Raptor or Ram 1500 TRX in towing and payload, and what it lacks in sheer size and power, it makes up for by being more maneuverable. It has its downsides for sure, being a ‘smaller’ off-road truck, but that also means it can navigate backroad trials Ford and Ram can’t hope to explore.
All in all, it seems the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 may become a contender when choosing an off-road vehicle, depending on driver needs.
However, for many truck users even these extensive changes may not be enough to sway them. While it’s nice to see Chevrolet stepping up the Silverado, it may not be enough to simply compare with Ford and Ram.
