There’s no denying that the 2022
Chevrolet
Corvette is a fast car – but a fast car doesn’t always equal a good car.
Although the Chevrolet Corvette was rated by
Consumer Reports
as the fastest sports car of 2022, it doesn’t have a high overall score, implying it’s lacking in other areas.
Is the Corvette’s acceleration rate the only redeeming thing about the car? Here’s what you need to know about this speedy sports car.

The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette is fast

Consumer Reports put it best when they said car acceleration is about more than just a thrilling speed. Having a car with a solid acceleration allows you to safely merge and drive on busy roads.
That’s why the rating and review organization rates the acceleration of each car they test with a GPS-based device that’s hooked to a data-logging computer and a display mounted on the windshield. Cars are tested for 0 to 30mph sprints as well as 0 to 60mph sprints.
For the 2022 acceleration tests, the Chevrolet Corvette’s statistics were put up against other sports cars like the Chevrolet Camaro SS, Porsche 718 Boxster, Toyota Supra, and Ford Mustang GT.
Although all these cars were fast, the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette came out on top with a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of just 3.4 seconds.

But, it’s lacking in other areas

While the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette has a 0 to 60mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds, it falls short in other areas. The Chevrolet Corvette earned just a 57 out of 100 overall score from Consumer Reports.
One area that brought the score down significantly was the predicted reliability, which earned the lowest score possible – one out of five.
Fuel economy also dragged the rating of the Chevrolet Corvette down. Consumer Reports gave the Corvette a two out of five for its fuel economy, which is 19 mpg overall, 12 mpg in the city, and 29 mpg on the highway.
The Chevrolet Corvette also lost points for not being too environmentally friendly. The car earned a three out of ten in both the greenhouse gas and smog rating categories.
While these lows did cost the car significantly, it is important to note that Consumer Reports did find other redeeming qualities of the Chevrolet Corvette besides acceleration speed.
The predicted owner satisfaction for this car was a perfect five out of five, plus the road test portion was a 97 out of 100.

And, the Chevrolet Corvette isn’t the only fast car this year

In addition to the Chevrolet Corvette being the fastest sports car of the year, Consumer Reports also rated other fast cars in multiple categories.
The Toyota RAV4 Prime was the fastest compact electric/hybrid car and fastest small SUV with a 0 to 60mph time of 6.3 seconds. Plus, the RAV4 Prime got an overall score of 88 out of 100.
Similarly, the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer was the fastest mid-size SUV, with an acceleration time of 6.4 seconds for a 0 to 60mph sprint. It earned an 82 out of 100 overall score, showing that cars that have fast accelerations can still score well in other categories, too.
If you choose to purchase the 2022 Chevrolet Covette, the next thing you’ll need is car insurance. Luckily,
