S6? While the 2022 model offers a ritzy cabin, dynamic handling, and plenty of speed, we can’t help but wonder if the S6 is the sleeper sedan we weren’t looking for.

The 2022 Audi S6: Upgraded powertrain and standard features

With a starting price of $75,895, the 2022 Audi S6 is a mid-range performance version of Audi’s midsize luxury sedan and sharper than the standard A6.
The new S6 is coming at you with an impressive 444 hp twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 443 lb-ft of torque and super sporty suspension. Its styling is subdued; perfect for those who want to avoid unwanted attention on the road. While it lacks drama, the sports sedan offers plenty of luxury inside its spacious cabin.
Buyers can choose between the Premium Plus or the $82,595 Prestige trim.
According to
Car and Driver
, the Prestige trim “unlocks a lot of the S6's best features, including a semi-autonomous driving mode, a head-up display, matrix-design LED headlamps, automatic high-beams, soft-close doors, a power-operated trunk lid, a leather-wrapped dashboard and center console, an in-cabin fragrance diffuser, and heated rear seats”
The previous S6 housed a 4.0-liter V8 engine with 450 hp. Drivers can now take advantage of the 2022 model’s twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine and a 48-volt hybrid system that powers an electric supercharger. Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic come standard.
The four-door sedan has a combined EPA of 22 mpg, with 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The 2022 Audi S6 can hit 60 mph in about 4.4 seconds.

The 2022 Audi S6 has a modern and understated interior

If you like sleek and modern design, you’ll love the soft leather, genuine wood trim, and fine materials incorporated throughout the cabin. “Like that of the A6, the S6's interior serves to highlight Audi's tech-driven luxury ethos,” Car and Driver notes.
Standard features include a power-adjustable heated steering wheel, adjustable ambient lighting, four-zone automatic climate control, 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats, and diamond-stitched leather upholstery.
If you opt for the Prestige model, you’ll get the Extended Leather package, which wraps various cabin elements like the armrests, dash, and center console.
The dominant digital displays on the dashboard are a tech lover’s dream. According to Car and Driver, “The main 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen rests above a secondary 8.6-inch display.” Audio controls, navigation, and entertainment features are handled by the upper screen, while the lower screen controls climate and other vehicle settings.
A Wi-Fi hotspot and Audi's Virtual Cockpit digital gauge display are also standard features, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Driver-assist features and warranty

Similar to the A6, the 2022 Audi S6 comes with plenty of safety features and high-tech add-ons. Standard features include lane-departure warning and automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and available adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode.
Unfortunately, the warranty you’ll get is pretty basic. Complimentary scheduled maintenance is not included, though you will receive a limited warranty for four years or 50,000 miles and a powertrain warranty that covers four years or 50,000 miles.
If you’re all about the latest technology and appreciate a high-quality build, you’ll have no problem adjusting to the new S6 sedan. With its lack of aggressive styling, chassis enhancements, and added power, luxury is front and center
But for the price, some drivers may be disappointed in the minimal driver-assist features or frustrated by the all-touchscreen dash in the 2022 Audi S6. In that case, they may benefit more from the style and practicality of the S7. If they can afford it, that is.
