Drivers in Oregon can receive up to $5,000 for the purchase of a new electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
Up to 90% of the energy consumed from transportation in the United States comes from petroleum. A formidable 29% of the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions come from the transportation sector alone.
To bring down emissions, many states offer incentives—generally in the form of rebates—to encourage more drivers to choose electric vehicles. These rebates, which vary from state to state, help make electric vehicles accessible to more people.
Because incentives look different depending on the state, car insurance comparison and broker app Jerry has compiled a guide of everything you need to know about Oregon’s electric vehicle incentives

How much can I save with the state electric vehicle incentive?

In Oregon, drivers who purchase a new electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle are eligible for a $2,500 rebate through the state’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program.
Oregon also offers a Charge Ahead Rebate of an additional $2,500 for low- or moderate-income Oregonians who purchase a new or used EV or PHEV.
The exact amount of the standard rebate will depend on your vehicle’s battery capacity:
  • Vehicles with battery capacity under 10 kWh are eligible for a rebate of $1,500
  • Vehicles with battery capacity over 10kWh are eligible for a $2,500 rebate
The Clean Vehicle Rebate Program offers a $750 rebate for the purchase of an electric zero-emission motorcycle.
In addition to these state-wide rebates, drivers who purchase an electric vehicle or a charging station could be eligible for rebates in certain cities.
  • Eugene Water and Electric Board offers a rebate of up to $500 for customers who install a residential Level 2 charging station
  • Portland General Electric offers a one-time rebate of $500 to customers who buy a PGE-approved Level 2 charger
  • Central Lincoln offers a one-time $250 rebate to customers who purchase a Level 2 charging station
  • Customers with Emerald People’s Utility District can get a $100 incentive for registering an electric vehicle
