Drivers who install an eligible electric vehicle charger at their home can save up to $500 with the incentive program in Nevada. Reduced electricity rates are also available for charging vehicles during non-peak times.
Approximately 90% of the energy consumed from transportation in the U.S. comes from petroleum, and most greenhouse gas emissions come from the transportation sector. To encourage drivers to choose electric vehicles, many states offer incentives like rebates.
Incentive programs differ depending on the state, so the car insurance comparison and broker app Jerry has compiled a guide to Nevada electric vehicle incentives.

How much can I save with the Nevada electric vehicle incentive?

Nevada drivers who install a level 2 electric vehicle charger can earn a rebate totaling 75% of their install costs—up to $500—through NV Energy.
Additionally, NV Energy customers are eligible for reduced time-of-use (TOU) rates when charging their electric vehicles on off-peak hours, such as late at night or early in the morning. If you qualify, TOU rates will apply not just to the use of your charger, but to electricity use all over your home.

How to get Nevada electric vehicle incentive

To claim the charger rebate in Nevada, you’ll need to submit an online application with NV Energy. The incentive is only available for the first 1,000 customers who apply.
To secure TOU rates, you’ll need to sign up online.

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for the Nevada electric vehicle charger rebate, you must:
  • Be a residential NV Energy customer
  • Install a qualified level 2 ChargePoint charger at your home
  • Own an electric vehicle purchased within 60 days of the application
  • Provide your consent for NV Energy to access the data from your charging station—those who decline consent are still eligible for a $250 incentive
To qualify for TOU rates, you must:
  • Charge your electric vehicle during NV Energy’s specified charging period
  • Have a TOU meter installed and provide your consent for NV Energy to access this meter every month
