In Iowa, drivers who purchase new, eligible electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles can save up to $500 with the state’s incentive program.

In Iowa, the
electric vehicle incentive
will save you $500 on the purchase of an electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.MidAmerican Energy offers customers the chance to receive a $500 rebate for electric vehicles purchased after January 1, 2021. Hybrids, unfortunately, do not qualify.
MidAmerican and Alliant Energy also offer rebates to drivers who purchase a residential car charger for their homes. The MidAmerican rebate is worth a whopping $1,500, while the Alliant Energy rebate is worth $500 or $700, depending on the type of charger.
How to get the Iowa electric vehicle incentive
To receive the electric vehicle incentive, you must fit the following criteria:
- Be a current MidAmerican customer
- Purchase the electric vehicle in the 2021 calendar year
- Have the car registered to your home address
- Provide a purchase or lease invoice
