Unfortunately, Arizona does not offer a vehicle-related incentive—although there is a federal tax credit available up to $7,500 depending on the car’s battery capacity.
Arizona does offer a generous rebate via Tucson Electric Power (TEP) for residential customers who install a charging station, or EVSE. Here’s what it entails:
- Up to 75% rebate for the installation cost—maximum $500 for a qualified two-way communicating EVSE and $250 for a one-way non-communicating EV charger
- 5% decrease in applicable charges for your EV when charging during off-peak hours
Commercial customers can get additional rebates, like $1,500 for EV port installation from the Salt River Project or up to $24,000 per port from Tucson Electric Power (TEP).
How to get the Arizona electric vehicle incentive
To be eligible for the discounted electricity rate, you must be a residential customer with TEP. To access the EVSE credit, you must install an eligible charger and charge your EV during off-peak hours.
