It’s difficult for a truck with a heavier chassis and torque-focused engine to keep up with the more versatility-oriented half-ton models. In comparison, the 2022 Ford F-250 has its strengths and dilemmas, including:
  • A curb weight of nearly 8,000 lbs—more than 2,000 lbs more than any of the other tested trucks
  • A towing capacity of 15,000 lbs—far more than the half-ton models listed

In its road test, the 2022 Ford F-250 received a 53, nearly 20 points lower than the other trucks tested. This three-quarter-ton pickup was held back by:

  • Low marks on emergency handling ability due to its size 
  • Low marks on fuel economy
